About

Hi, I’m Jess Lambert — a special education teacher with a passion for supporting neurodiverse students, particularly those on the autism spectrum. My journey into special education has been shaped by both professional and personal experiences, giving me a deep understanding of the unique strengths and challenges that come with autism.

Growing up with a blind parent and raising children with ADHD and dietary restrictions has given me a lifelong appreciation for how every mind works differently.  Living with asthma, eczema, and allergies has given me firsthand insight into managing chronic health conditions.  Living with constant pain from invisible illnesses has deepened my empathy for others.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a direct support staff for individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them navigate daily life with dignity and independence. These experiences inspired me to pursue a career where I could empower students to thrive in their own unique ways.

I am committed to cultivating and fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where every individual feels valued and respected — not just in schools, but in all aspects of life. Whether through community support, advocacy, or personal connections, I believe in meeting people where they are and celebrating their unique journeys every step of the way.

This website is also a space where I share my personal experiences as a late-identified autistic adult. This newfound understanding of how autism has shaped who I am and impacted my childhood experiences has been enlightening.  I’m passionate about shedding light on what it means to embrace neurodivergence at any stage of life. By sharing my story, I hope to foster connection, understanding, and advocacy for the neurodiverse community.

Thank you for visiting — I’m so glad you’re here.

But why did you call him tortoise if he wasn't one?
